Free insurance scheme application to be streamlined, making it easier for people to register — MB

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SABAK BERNAM, Oct 16 — Applications for the Insurans Hayat Selangor (Insan) general insurance scheme will be streamlined, so as to make it easier for the public to register, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the authorities are actively training more personnel to help residents with their registration, as well as mobilising teams across the state.

“Thus far the registration has been quite good, though it still takes a while to apply for. Applications can be made online, and we will update them accordingly.

“All residents ought to register, and can do so by going to their respective service centre or village chief. The insurance is fully borne by the state government, and Selangor is the only state which has extended such protection to the people,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking during the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow in the Sabak Bernam district yesterday.

The Menteri Besar first announced Insan on August 30, during the state-level Independence Day celebrations, as part of the administration’s efforts to reduce the burden of those facing problems, ranging from individuals aged 30 days old to 80 years.

The scheme’s eligibility conditions include possessing an identification card or address registered in the state, as well as being a voter in Selangor.

Each individual will receive up to RM10,000 in coverage for death, accidents, or injuries according to type. Insan is expected to benefit six million state residents.

With RM60 billion in coverage value, registration for the scheme is open until September 30, 2023. Members of the public can do so by downloading the Wavpay e-wallet app on App Store or Google Play.
