PETALING JAYA, Oct 18 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari called on state government agencies to assist entrepreneurs in building more viable and sustainable family businesses.

He said assistance from related agencies can reduce the risk of failure in businesses for entrepreneurs.

“Several factors require attention, including resource and risk management mechanisms as well as support systems, the prevention or reduction of business failures, improving family administration and successful ownership, as well as inter-generational wealth transfer.

“These are critical success factors that must be strengthened and require cooperation between the government, industry, universities, and the wider community,” Amirudin said at the opening ceremony of the second Asia-Pacific Family Business Summit at the Hilton Hotel, earlier today.

He added that family businesses play an important role in contributing to Selangor’s economy, while not neglecting efforts in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Menteri Besar is also confident the success of entrepreneurs can provide balance and convenience to the community.

The summit, organised by BinaPavo, was conducted in a hybrid format and saw over 200 participants across various sectors, including those from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Spain.

The first summit took place virtually in August last year, with approximately 200 participants.
