MB: Various initiatives introduced to uplift education in Selangor

By Siti Rohaizah Zainal

KLANG, Oct 24 — The Selangor government has always prioritised education for its people, particularly for those coming from low-income families.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS) had given students for the low-income group access to additional learning lessons or materials.

“Previously, the highest number of participants registered for the programme stood at 6,000 individuals, which include 100 Form Four and Form Five students from each state constituency.

“As of now, we have added additional classes for Standard Six students and overall, over 20,000 students were sponsored by the state government, especially from low-income families.

“The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI also provided sponsorship for the extra classes and lunch packs so that they would be fed or would not need to spend extra money for food,” he said when delivering his speech at the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow in Klang, here yesterday.

During the tabling of the 2022 Selangor Budget on November 26 last year, Amirudin announced that the state government would allocate RM7 million to continue the PTRS programme this year.
