MPKj readies assets, manpower to face floods

BALAKONG, Oct 5 — Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has readied its logistics, assets and personnel to face the floods which are expected at the end of this year.

Its president Najmuddin Jemain said they are also working with several related agencies to get ready to launch operations if there is a disaster.

He said they have conducted regular checks on all their assets for floods to ensure it functions properly when needed.

“MPKj also took part in last week’s disaster simulation. We also conducted training using boats so that our personnel are ready for disasters,” he said during the handover of Balakong Jaya Industrial Maintenance and Infrastructure Fund here today.

He said they will also cooperate with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that wish to provide flood relief to ensure it reaches its target in a smooth manner.

He also welcomed public contributions for flood victims on items such as blankets, mattresses, clothes and dry foods.

“We are not being selective but want it to be practical as based on previous experiences some of it (donated items) are unsuitable and unusable. If it is food, make sure it is canned food which is more practical than fresh ones,” he said.
