PH positive in winning Perak if election machinery works hard

By Zareef Muzammil

KLANG, Oct 21 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) is confident it will be able to capture many Parliamentary seats in Perak, during the 15th general election (GE15) next month.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the coalition’s election machinery will have to put in much effort in order to realise this.

InsyaAllah, we will capture Perak. I do not follow percentages but work hard. However, I must also look after other areas including tomorrow in Penang, Sunday in Sabah, and Monday in Sarawak,” he said.

Anwar was speaking after his visit to Little India to thank former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam, who named him among the three leaders worthy of leading Malaysia.

Similarly, he did not discount the possibility of meeting with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (for GE15), provided the veteran statesman will fight against corruption, racism and extremist teachings.

“Meeting Tun M is no issue, we can discuss. But I always emphasize the importance of why we fight BN or PN.

“As policies, we must reject corruption, racism and extreme beliefs. If that is what is requested, then I have no problem,” Anwar said.

Yesterday, the PKR president was announced as PH’s prime ministerial candidate if it gets the people’s mandate and manages to capture Putrajaya.

Anwar also announced he will be contesting in the Tambun parliament seat, and help to raise Perak’s status as well as boost it into becoming a new economic giant.

The Electoral Commission has set November 19 as the polling day, with the nomination day on November 5, early voting on November 15, with a 14-day campaigning period for GE15.
