PKNS organises empowerment programme for 13 entrepreneurs, aims to penetrate foreign market

SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) have organised empowerment programmes for 13 entrepreneurs’ to nurture the community’s interest in doing business.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas said through PKNS’s Entrepreneur Development Division (BPU), that professional entrepreneurship training and guidance are provided to those who seek to gain more business knowledge.

“Besides nurturing entrepreneurship culture among school students, PKNS also conducted various programmes including the Program Usahawan Mahasiswa, Program Usahawan Siswazah, Program Vendor Inkubator Payung (VIP) and Program Sub Kontraktor Bumiputera (SKB).

“Since last year, BPU is also committed to discovering more entrepreneurs for foreign markets through the Program Inisiatif Halal, Program Inisiatif Export Ready and Program Keusahawanan Bandar/Luar Bandar,” he said after launching the Promosi Jualan Tunas Niaga (PROTUNe) 2022 at Kompleks PKNS, here today.

He added that other than training programmes, BPU also has for rent, a working and event space as well as a seminar room at the PKNS BizPoint Building in Section 7 at a reasonable price.

Meanwhile, he said the corporation continued to promote entrepreneurship to school students through PROTUNe 2022.

Mahmud said the event was joined by 141 students from 147 secondary schools in collaboration with the Selangor State Education Department.

“The three-day event, which kicked off yesterday, offers various products including food and beverages, services, agriculture, clothing and creative items.

“Five schools with the highest sales would stand a chance to display their products at PKNS building for two weeks,” he said when met at the Kompleks PKNS, here today.

He added that the programme, which was introduced in 1998 recorded a total sales of RM21,000 on the first day.

The event aimed to record total sales of RM200,000 throughout its duration.

PROTUNe is an entrepreneur programme involving students from form one, two and four in secondary schools throughout the state which required participants to set up and register a company under PKNS.
