BALAKONG, Oct 5 — Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has received RM4.24 million to implement upgrading and maintenance works on the infrastructure in Balakong Jaya industrial area.
Its president Najmuddin Jemain said the funding from the Balakong Jaya Industrial Area Association came from contributions made by its members to the Balakong Jaya Industrial Area Maintenance and Infrastructure Fund, since 2018.
He said the efforts will make it easier for the MPKj Engineering Department to implement upgrading and maintenance works on roads, drainages and street lights in a proper and systematic manner.
“To start it off, the MPKJ Engineering Department will appoint a land surveyor and consultant engineer to draft an infrastructure masterplan to solve the main issues such as damaged roads, potholes and flash floods in the industrial area.
“The masterplan will take about six months to complete,” he said during a ceremony to hand over the fund to MPKj here today.
He said the factory and industry owners in the area need to be responsible for paying their assessment tax as it is a source of income for MPKj, which will be used to implement infrastructure planning for the area.
“I was told that the size of this area is 200 acres, which needs a lot of expenditure to maintain the infrastructure,” he said.
