Selangor emerge overall champions of National Sports Day 2022 e-sports championship

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 — Selangor were crowned the overall champions of the National Sports Day (HSN) 2022 E-Sports Championship after winning the Mobile Legend Bang Bang (MLBB) and PUBG Mobile competitions at the Cempaka Sari Auditorium Hall here, today.

In the MLBB competition, Selangor defeated Kelantan who finished as runners-up while the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur came in third.

Selangor’s dominance continued in the PUBG Mobile competition as they were a class above second-placed Pahang while the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur again took third place.

The HSN 2022 E-Sports Championship also featured a futsal event which was won by Terengganu while Perlis and Pahang came in second and third respectively.

Terengganu’s achievement saw them emerge as overall runners-up, while Perlis finished third.

All second and third-place winners received cash prizes and medals while the champions took home cash, medals and championship trophies.

Malaysian Electronic Sports Federation (MESF) secretary-general Mohamad Nazri Abdul Latiff expressed satisfaction over the organisation of the championship.

“We achieved the total participation target of 20,000 people for the HSN E-Sports Championship where 15,000 participants were from the state level,” he told Bernama.

The competition was held at the district and state levels from September 7 to 15, and over 200 participants from around the country qualified for the finals.

This is the fourth series of the championship organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the National Youth and Sports Department in collaboration with MESF.
