Sepang largest contributor to state economy – MB

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SEPANG, Oct 30 — Sepang’s rapid economic growth is one of the contributing factors to Selangor’s revenue collection, which currently stands at about RM2.18 billion, says Dato’ Seri Amuridin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said the proud achievement is recorded two months earlier than the annual target of RM2.05 billion.

“Congratulations to the civil servants who helped the state record such an extraordinary result. We targeted RM2.05 billion (for this year), but to date, we have recorded RM2.18 billion.

“The revenue collected in Sepang is the highest amount. It has recorded almost 800 per cent higher than the target set, mostly due to the existing infrastructure and facilities,” he said in a speech to officiate the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang (JSP) in the district, here today.

Commenting further, Amirudin said the reopening of the economy after the spread of Covid-19 and flood disasters also contributed to the continuous increase of revenue collection.

“This means, developers and investors are resuming development efforts. During the pandemic and the floods, many were forced to postpone spending, causing premiums and land tax collection to stop.

“When the economy opens up, we have encouraged new developments and investments to run smoothly. Indirectly, this brought economic and business opportunities to the population,” he said.
