SHAH ALAM, Oct 18 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj received Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar in an audience at Istana Bukit Kayangan on October 13.
During the audience, His Royal Highness also presented the official instrument to upgrade the Selangor International Islamic University College (Kuis) to the Selangor International University (UIS) to Abdul Razak.
According to the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page, Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim was also in attendance in his capacity as chairman of UIS’ board of directors, as well as other board members.
UIS is fully owned by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and was established on February 15, 1995, under the Private Higher Education Institutions Act 1996.
Its official establishment is indicative of the state government’s commitment in empowering the educational agenda.
UIS offers various programmes on the Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Philosophy levels, which fulfils the Malaysian Qualifications Agency’ criteria in Islamic Studies, Business Studies, Islamic Banking, Education, Communications and Information Technology.
