Team Selangor hikers collect 11 kg of waste from Sg Batangsi

SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 — Ten volunteers from Helang Hikers Team Selangor have successfully collected 11.2 kilogrammes (kg) of rubbish during a climbing expedition at Sungai Batangsi recently.

Team Selangor chief secretary Syahaizel Keman said among the trash collected were plastic bottles and canned drinks.

“During this mission, the Helang Hikers team members collected 11.2 kg of rubbish such as plastic bottles and tin cans along the slippery and rough tracks.

“The hikers also went through the jungle and crossed the river to reach the 20-metre high Berembun Waterfall,” he said in a statement.

Syahaizel said the expedition was led by Khairil Aslan and Munzir, who are crews at the Anugerah Alam Batangsi Camp.

He said the climb took four hours to reach the Kem Balak camping site.

“The Sungai Batangsi expedition is part of the training exercise for Helang Hikers to prepare for the Mount Nuang expedition,” he said.
