SHAH ALAM, Oct 4 — The hotline set up by KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) via the mobile application WhatsApp that allows the public to report on the condition of drains has received a positive response.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said that the state agency had received many complaints about clogged drains from local residents in the state.

“This is part of our preparations for future flooding incidents. The people would be required to send us a video (of the complaints) and we would take immediate action to ensure that the drains would work properly.

“We may have previously overlooked several areas but with the information we received (through WhatsApp), it helps us carry out the clean-up works,” he said when contacted.

Ramli said KDEBWM would also help channel the complaints they had received that were not withing their jurisdiction to the relevant agencies.

“Some of the complaints we received were not within our jurisdiction, but we would still take note and pass it over to the relevant agencies, such as the Public Works Department.

“Therefore, we hope that the people would continue providing us the information so that action can be taken,” he said.

To lodge a report or complaint on clogged drains, contact the KDEBWM WhatsApp hotline at 019-274 2824.

The hotline was established in an effort to provide a good drainage system and get ready for floods that the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecasted will occur in November.
