SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — Avisena Healthcare Sdn Bhd and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to offer placement opportunities for students to undergo industrial training as well as provide employment opportunities to graduates of the university.
Avisena Healthcare deputy chairman Datuk Dr Omar Abd Hamid said that through the collaboration, both organisations can develop their respective core businesses as well as produce skilled students.
“Avisena is currently in the process of expanding its business including plans to increase bed capacity from 250 to 900 beds by 2030, so we need a more professional workforce especially in the field of nursing,” said Dr Omar.
Avisena Healthcare owns Avisena Specialist Hospital and Avisena Women’s & Children’s Specialist Hospital located in Shah Alam.
“Through this collaboration, Avisena will receive quality workforce from the fields of nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and medical imaging from UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak (RCMP).
“Meanwhile UniKL RCMP will be able to ensure that its graduates get jobs and its students can use Avisena as a training ground,” he said at the MoU signing ceremony here today.
The MoU was signed by Avisena Healthcare Group chief executive officer (CEO) Elina Nadia Omar and UniKL president and CEO Datuk Dr Roziah Omar.
Meanwhile, Dr Omar said that through the collaboration, Avisena Healthcare will also offer full scholarship opportunities under the Avisena Study Scheme Scholarship to its eligible employees.
“We aim to send more than 20 staff members consisting of ward and clinic assistants to continue their studies in the Nursing Diploma field at UniKL RCMP.
“It’s part of our future expansion which is recruiting trained nurses who have good values and work ethics to impact our patient experience, quality and safety because patient care is our priority.
“All of these people were selected through a staged interview process for screening purposes to ensure interest and willingness to continue their studies and will be fully sponsored by Avisena Healthcare,” he said.
