SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — A total of 111 residents of Kampung Baru Lembah Pantai and Kampung Ban RB Sungai Sireh in Tanjong Karang were evacuated after their houses had been inundated, caused by a broken bund.

According to Berita Harian, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said all the affected victims were evacuated to the Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Baru Lembah Pantai and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Sireh temporary relief centres (PPS).

“For the first location in Kampung Baru Lembah Pantai, Fire and Rescue personnel were deployed to the location after receiving a call at 4.47am.

“Our investigation found that the area, which houses 92 residents, has been inundated with the water level reaching 0.5 metres. The incident was caused by a broken bund at a nearby location following continuous heavy rain since 2am today,” he was quoted by the Malay daily.

He said a similar incident had been reported at Kampung Ban RB in Sungai Sireh, causing 19 houses to be inundated in 0.2-metre-high water.

“All residents have been advised to follow the evacuation orders from the authorities to avoid any untoward incident,” he said.
