GE15: Amirudin armed with solutions, offerings in contest for Gombak

SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — The Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, says he is armed with appropriate solutions to problems and interesting offerings for the people, instead of empty promises.

He began by announcing the land and strata issues Gombak residents have been facing for close to a quarter-century was finally been resolved yesterday morning.

“I came to Gombak and made offers for its future. From land to strata issues, and even rights of ownership. Things which some could not solve for many decades.

“Believe it or not, I have done so. Approximately 3,850 families now own lands and homes,” Amirudin said in his ceramah during the Grand Finale Jelajah Mega Pakatan Harapan programme, at Dewan Serbaguna MPAJ AU2 in Gombak yesterday night.

He added when he first arrived in Gombak and witnessed thousands still living on reserve lands, he was quick to instruct the respective district officers to conduct the necessary checks and hasten approvals.

“This is why Harapan is different. We protect the dignity of Malays but without playing on racial sentiments. Instead, we raise them up economically and resolve issues pertaining to land and property rights.

“As of this moment, we have completely resolved the ownership of some 8,000 land lots in Selangor in the years since Harapan took over the state administration,” Amirudin said.

Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar, said the Harapan-led state government made sure school-going students were not left behind, even with school closures as a result of the movement control order (MCO) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“During the MCO, the education system almost grinded to a halt, with many students left behind as they lacked the appropriate means to study online. But Selangor was quick to react and we started a free tuition programme.

“We began with only 6,000 students, but every year we increased its capacity and provided more funding since it was well-received by the people.

“Currently, we have about 40,000 students benefitting from the programme, especially children from hardcore poor families and the B40 category. Harapan is ready to restore the standard of education for our young generations and their future,” he said.

In addition, Amirudin emphasised Selangor Harapan’s recent efforts in offering career opportunities to youths via the Jom Kerja initiative, which has seen around 50,000 job offers taken up.

The Selangor Harapan chairman also stressed the coalition’s determination to govern Malaysia with integrity, good values, and steadfast principles.

“We may not be perfect, but we are transparent and we correct our mistakes to ensure better well-being for the people of Malaysia.

“If you need an example, the best is Selangor. Harapan has governed this state for 14 years with peace, security and stability. If we should be given the opportunity to take over Putrajaya, we will fight for justice and defend the fate of all Malaysians,” he said with confidence.

Previously, Amirudin made five pledges, dubbed ‘Deklarasi Gombak Bermaruah: Lima Tekad Untuk Lima Tahun’ (Declaration for a Dignified Gombak: Five Pledges for Five Years).

The pledges are as below:

Ekonomi Tempatan Nadi Gombak (Gombak’s Local Economy as a Prime Mover)
