GE15: Be wary of new Covid wave, MB tells voters

By Azian Aziz

GOMBAK, November 7 — Selangor residents have been urged to remain vigilant against the new Covid-19 wave which is currently on the rise, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

However, he hopes those who are fit and have received a complete dose of vaccines will not be worried about facing huge crowds on the polling date, which has been set to November 19.

“All of us have just gone through the Covid-19 pandemic which we all understand, but we still have to remind one other. InsyaAllah, I will always remind the people during the campaigning period to be wary of the virus.

“But we also have a responsibility as voters. I am afraid if people are too concerned about Covid-19, they will fear going out and vote even though most of us have been vaccinated,” Amirudin said when met in Gombak yesterday.

The Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat also reminded candidates to formulate the right strategies, to ensure their messages can be conveyed well to voters, especially during the monsoon season.

Malaysia is currently facing a small wave of the Covid-19 virus after recording four cases from the Omicron XBB subvariant last week.
