SHAH ALAM, Nov 18 — The Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate for the Subang parliamentary seat in the ongoing 15th general election, Wong Chen, had to limit the number of visitors who came to listen to his series of ceramahs at USJ 4 and USJ 11 on on Tuesday (November 16) night.

He said the party election machinery initially planned to hold both ceramahs on a small scale but was met with extraordinary public response.

“We expected a crowd between 50 to 100 people but the numbers exceeded our expectations. We found almost 300 people in attendance at USJ 4 and almost 500 to 600 at USJ 11,” Wong said.

In addition to the ceramahs the candidate, who often held various activities to meet and greet the residents, received an enthusiastic response from Subang residents, which includes the breakfast programme at Jalan Puteri 5/16 and the walkabout at Taman Wawasan Pasar Pagi, Kinrara, yesterday morning.

In his ceramahs, Wong often touched on economic issues affecting the people, which he believes should be properly addressed by the government because Malaysia has natural resources and tax revenues.

Meanwhile, Harapan’s candidate for the Puchong parliamentary seat, Yeo Bee Yin, received great support during her ceramah with residents in Batu 17 on November 15.

Speaking on stage, she expressed pleasure as people filled the streets and sidewalks of the business district at night.

Yeo, among others, touched on Harapan’s action plans which takes into account the development and welfare of various races and the future of the country.

The candidate was also met with the same atmosphere during the series of ceramahs in Bandar Bukit. Yeo is currently on a Harapan tour in Johor and is to give a ceramah in Labis tonight.
