GE15: MB still working, attending exco meeting in the morning

By Sulyn Chong

SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is still carrying out his duties and responsibilities in the state government, even as he contests for the Gombak parliamentary seat in the ongoing 15th general election (GE15).

“I will still be attending the Selangor State Executive Council (MMKN) meeting this morning. I am still working to make sure everything in the state continues to run smoothly,” he said during an interview session with Astro Awani at Medan Selera Greenwood in Gombak, yesterday night.

The Pakatan Harapan candidate has been seen around the area, getting to know the people and patiently listening to their grouses for the past few days since campaigning began on Saturday (November 5).

However, Amirudin emphasised this has not hindered him from continuing his duties as Selangor’s Menteri Besar.

“I am still continuously carrying out my duties in the government, and am also very much hands-on with the job as it is a responsibility that I must shoulder,” he said.

Amirudin assured the people he is ready and willing to bear the trust that has been given to him.

On November 4, it was reported that Amirudin will take leave from his official duties to focus on GE15.

In addition, two other state executive councillors, namely the state executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail and state executive councillor for community welfare V Ganabatirau will also go on leave.

Rodziah will be contesting as a candidate for the Ampang parliamentary seat and Ganabatirau will be contesting as a candidate for the Klang parliamentary seat, respectively, under the Harapan ticket.

The Election Commission has set November 19 as the polling day for GE15, with early voting on November 15.
