GE15: New Harapan candidates to challenge turncoat leaders north of the Peninsular

SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — Pakatan Harapan has fielded fresh candidates to challenge the incumbents who left their old parties in three seats for the ongoing 15th general election (GE15).

Harapan’s Fadhlina Siddiq will be facing off against incumbent Datuk Mansor Othman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Nibong Tebal, Penang, while Zabidi Yahya is challenging former prime minister and incumbent Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Pejuang) in Langkawi.

Both Mansor and Dr Mahathir won their seats on the Parti Keadilan Rakyat ticket in 2018 but dropped out of the coalition following the Sheraton Move political crisis in February 2020.

Meanwhile, Fathin Amelina Fazlie is challenging Arau incumbent Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, who is contesting on the PN ticket after being dropped by Barisan Nasional.

The following are some of the interesting seats and candidates in Perlis, Kedah and Penang:

Perlis

  • P 002 Kangar: Incumbent Noor Amin Ahmad (Harapan) challenged by Datuk Fathul Bari Mat Jahya (BN), Zakri Hassan (PN), Nur Sulaiman Zolkapli (Pejuang) and Rohimi Shapiee (Warisan)
  • P 003 Arau: Fathin Amelina Fazlie (Harapan) challenging incumbent Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (PN) and Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman (BN)

Kedah

  • P 004 Langkawi : Incumbent Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Pejuang) challenged by Zabidi Yahya (Harapan), Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (PN), Datuk Armishah Siraj (BN), and Datuk Abd Kadir Sainudin (Independent)
  • P 101 Kuala Kedah: Incumbent Dr Azman Ismail (Harapan) challenged by Mashitah Ibrahim (BN), Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Fakhrurazi (PN), and Ulya Aqamah Husamudin (Pejuang)
  • P 103 Sik: Datuk Latipah Md Yatim (Harapan) challenging incumbent Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman (PN) and Maizatulakmam Othman @ Ibrahim (BN)
  • P 016 Baling: Incumbent Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (BN) challenged by Johari Abdullah (Harapan), Lt Kol (B) Basir Ab Rahman (Pejuang) and Hassan Saad (PN)
  • P 018 Kulim-Bandar Baharu: Incumbent Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (Harapan) challenged by Roslan Hashi (PN), Datuk Muhar Hussain (BN),and Mohd Yusrizal Yusoff (Pejuang)

Penang

  • P 043 Bagan: Incumbent Lim Guan Eng (Harapan) challenged by Dr Tan Chuan Hong (BN), Oh Teik Choon (PN) and Mohammed Hafiz Mohamed Abu Bakar (Pejuang)
  • P 044 Permatang Pauh: Incumbent Nurul Izzah Anwar (Harapan) challenged by Datuk Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said (BN), Fawwaz Mat Jan (PN) and Mohd Nasir Othman (Pejuang)
  • P 046 Batu Kawan: Chow Kon Yeow (Harapan) faces off against Datuk Tan Lee Huat (BN), Wong Chia Zhen (PN), Ong Chin Wen (Warisan) and Lee Ah Liang (Parti Rakyat Malaysia)
  • P 047 Nibong Tebal: Fadhlina Siddiq (Harapan) challenging incumbent Datuk Mansor Othman (PN), Datuk Seri R. Thanenthiran (BN) and Goh Kheng Huat (Independent)
