GE15: Sungai Buloh candidate aims to build youth super sports centre if elected

By Nasuha Badrul Huzaini

SHAH ALAM, Nov 6 — The Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) candidate for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat, Datuk R Ramanan, has said he plans to develop a super sports centre for youths in the constituency if he is elected as its MP in the ongoing 15th general election (GE15).

From his observations, the existing sport centres are unable to provide proper space for sports activities like sepak takraw, badminton and futsal.

“For youths, I plan to develop a super sports centre, which is not something beyond our means. It is what we are capable of doing for the area, on top of the overall offers from Harapan in GE15.

“Additionally, as youths are increasingly engaging in e-sports these days, we will also provide the proper space in the super sports centre, where gamers can also utilise the centre’s facilities,” Ramanan said during the Ceramah Mega Paya Jaras programme, at Sungai Buloh earlier tonight.

Several state assemblymen were also in attendance, including Sentosa’s Dr Gunaraj George, Paya Jaras’s Mohd Khairuddin Othman who is also the state executive councillor for youth, as well as Kota Damansara’s Shatiri Mansor.

The candidate also vowed he will not be taking an MP’s salary and any additional allowances during his tenure of service, should he be elected to the seat.

“I will not be utilising my MP’s salary, I am not even going to take one ringgit. In fact the money will be given back to local communities in Sungai Buloh, which can instead be spent on Muslim and non-Muslim places of worship,” he said.

The Sungai Buloh seat for GE15 sees a seven-cornered fight, with the candidates including former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin contesting under the Barisan Nasional ticket, and Mohd Ghazali Md Hamin under Perikatan Nasional.

Other candidates are Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s Mohd Akmal Mohd Yusoff, Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Ahmad Jufliz Faiza, and Independent candidates Syed Abdul Razak Syed Long Alsagof and Nurhaslinda Basri.
