GOMBAK, Nov 1 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari believes the Gombak parliamentary seat will be determined by support for the contesting parties and not because of individual candidates.
The PKR candidate said the party’s machinery must work hard to ensure Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be able to retain the seat.
“This upcoming 15th general election (GE15) will be a daunting task as we are going to face the incumbent MP, who has sat for three consecutive terms. However, I believe the winning factor is contributed by the support for the party and not for individuals.
“Even if they contest under other symbols such as key or frog, they will never win, but if (under) PKR or PH ticket, we will win,” he said in a casual session with the party’s machinery, last night.
Amirudin added he believes Gombak will be a tough fight, admitting it is not an easy job to win a ‘tainted’ seat, referring to Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who won the seat under PKR’s ticket before joining Bersatu.
“We have to get rid of traitors in Gombak and continue supporting PH in the election,” he said.
Amirudin is expected to contest against Azmin, regarded as one of the main figures behind the collapse of the PH Federal government in February 2020.:
