SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — Hulu Langat and Sepang are expected to be hit with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds until 7pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 3.30pm, the agency said that other affected areas, namely Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor will also see inclement weather.

“Meanwhile, strong weather is anticipated in Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar and Batang Padang) and Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman).

“The same goes for Sabah’s Pedalaman (Sipitang and Beaufort), Pantai Barat, Tawau (Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan and Beluran) and Kudat (Kota Marudu),” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
