SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — The state government has allocated RM700,000 for the instalment of the Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) next year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the conference, which was first organised in 2021, aims to promote and increase the halal industry participation within the state.

“Selhac must continue to be a credible annual conference in propelling and developing the halal industry in Selangor,” he said during the tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, here today.

Selhac comprises several components including exhibitions, a halal trade forum and business matching session.

Amirudin said the business matching session has yielded numerous positive impacts including connecting local and foreign halal industry players.

“For 2023, the state government would like to propose for another element to be added to the conference, namely the Asean Halal Scientist Conference.

“The one-day event could serve as a platform to gather all scientists and lab technology members who are involved in the halal industry across the region to present their research,” he said.
