SHAH ALAM, Nov 22 — Some RM12.5 million has been distributed to 501 schools across Selangor to repair their infrastructure and facilities for the students’ convenience.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Bantuan Sekolah Negeri Selangor initiative was handed over to 381 Islamic religious schools, as well as 120 national primary and secondary schools.

“The aid is inclusive of grants to public and private schools in Selangor, with the aim of providing optimal comfort to the students,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Amirudin added the donation ceremony, which took place at Dewan Jubli Perak in the State Secretariat Building yesterday, was part of the RM26.5 million total allocation that has been distributed to 742 schools throughout this year.

In May, the Menteri Besar said Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools, missionary schools, and Chinese private secondary schools, will also receive similar aid.

Last month saw RM14 million contributed by the state government to 143 vernacular schools, overseen by state executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian and state executive councillor for socio-economic development V Ganabatirau.
