SHAH ALAM, Nov 9 — The state government will provide 20 Selangor Smart Buses beginning tomorrow (November 10) to assist thousands of commuters who are affected by the suspension of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) service.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government will coordinate with RapidKL regarding the buses’ routes to avoid overlapping.
“We will try to maximise the buses’ capacity to cater to some of the 160 existing routes. The state government is also ready to increase the number of buses when needed, based on the coordination with RapidKL.
“The coordination process is important because the existing buses have fixed routes as decided by the Land Public Transport Agency. Therefore our discussion with RapidKL would help to smooth the process.
“State executive councillor for transport Ng Sze Han will be involved directly in a discussion with RapidKL and it is expected to take place today,” he said at a press conference at the Selangor State Legislative Building, here today.
Also present was state executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.
Amirudin added the collaboration between the state government and RapidKL is not something new.
“The company is among the vendors who are in charge of managing the free Smart Selangor buses in the state,” he said.
Earlier today, Rapid Rail in a statement said the cause of the disruption to the electronic components of the Automatic Train Control System on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line service has yet to be identified.
It said the disruption, which resulted in the loss of signal between the control centre and trains, prevented the trains’ automatic movements between the LRT Kelana Jaya Station and LRT Ampang Park Station.
