GOMBAK, Nov 8 — The maintenance of all mosques and houses of worship in the state, including gurdwaras, is given equal priority by the Selangor government.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the state administration is in the process of providing a new Gurdwara Sahib with a large parking area in Kampung Laksamana, here.

He said that the current centre in Selayang that is used by the Sikh community in Rawang and Gombak cannot accommodate a large number of vehicles.

“The regulations permit 10,000 square feet for the building only with a parking space.

“I propose that a state subsidiary or the developer buy the land (Gurdwara Sahib Selayang) because then the Gurdwara can utilise the proceeds to build a new Gurdwara that is more spacious, comfortable with good facilities for the Sikh community in the Rawang and Gombak area,” he said during a meet with the Selayang Gurwara Sahib Association, here last night.

Meanwhile, the Gombak parliamentary candidate said under Pakatan Harapan’s leadership, Selangor would always ensure that the multiracial population in the state benefited from the state’s development.

He said that the Selangor administration had allocated aside funds to develop and maintain mosques, places of worship and the establishment of the Selangor Special Committee for Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Taoism (Limas).

“Diverse thoughts, ideologies and beliefs ought to unite us rather than divide the people,” he added.
