SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 — Selangor voters are urged to fulfil their public duty by casting their ballots on November 19 even though faced with the chance of experiencing bad weather.
Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari that the voters should hold the former ruling party Barisan Nasional accountable for holding the 15th general election (GE15) during the monsoon season.
“We must fulfil our responsibility; there is no other option. Voting is necessary for the public to hold them accountable for this,” he told the media when met last night.
“We ought to support democracy by encouraging people to cast ballots and so on. We must be involved and prevent an easy win for them.”
Commenting on the Malaysian Meteorological Department’s weather forecast yesterday, the Menteri Besar said that rainfall is expected in the evening throughout Selangor on polling day.
Amirudin said that the people should make a decision of clear conscience based on the offers presented by Pakatan Harapan (Harapan), BN and Perikatan Nasional, including the prime ministerial candidates.
“They should be aware that there are parties who are trying to make it difficult for them to go out to vote by deciding on the wrong timing,” said the Harapan candidate for Gombak parliamentary seat.
Previously, Amirudin described the dissolution of Parliament to pave way for GE15 during the monsoon season as a mistake as it had caused inconveniences towards the flood victims.
