Para Sukma 2022: Nur Jannaton wins two gold medals on birthday

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Perak archer Nur Jannaton Abdul Jalil celebrated her 27th birthday today in grand style by winning two gold medals at the 2022 Malaysia Para Games (Para Sukma).

She beat Penang’s Nazirah Md Noor 127 – 126 in the women’s compound Olympic round to win her first gold and then topped the mixed team compound event with partner Mohd. Zafi Rahman Mat Saleh for her second gold at the NSC archery field at Bukit Jalil.

The Perak pair had no problem defeating the Kedah duo of J. Sharon – G. Daneshen 140-128, while the bronze went to Nazirah Md Noor – Mohamed Saifullrizal Mohamed Sakhir of Penang.

“I am of course elated to be able to win gold again today and grateful that what was planned fell into place today.

“I am satisfied but not entirely thrilled because I made a lot of small errors. I still need to learn a lot, especially when my scoring is down 10 per cent, and I need to overcome the jitters,” she said here today.

Nur Jannaton’s two gold medal haul today means she has completed a personal gold treble after winning the women’s compound open event on Wednesday (November 2).

Nur Jannaton plans on participating in more domestic and foreign tournaments to qualify on merit for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
