HULU LANGAT, Nov 12 — Pakatan Harapan’s (Harapan) candidate for the Hulu Langat parliamentary seat is determined to help nearly 400 flood victims who have yet to receive assistance from the Federal government should he wins in the ongoing 15th general election (GE15).
Mohd Sany Hamzan said he was devastated when he discovered that the affected victims have been waiting for almost a year for the RM5,000 flood assistance.
“I was told that there are 300 residents in Taman Seri Nanding, 70 in Batu 16 and 10 in Batu 17 who have yet to receive assistance. There is no news up till today and this is very frustrating.
“The Federal government allocated RM2 billion for the Keluarga Malaysia Flood Relief, so please expedite the distribution,” he said after meeting the Kampung Sungai Serai residents here, today.
He added that the allocation was not decided on a whim.
“There must be various agencies involved during the discussion, especially from the financial agency. Therefore, please resolve this matter rather than just talking about it,” he said.
Hulu Langat was one of the badly-hit areas in Selangor from the deluge on December 18, last year.
Following the disaster, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the Keluarga Malaysia Flood Relief on December 31, 2021.
Among the incentives provided under the assistance include cash of RM5,000 for house repair works.
