SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — The state government has congratulated Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, earlier today.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said his administration is also prepared to help the Tambun MP in leading the country, especially in light of of tough challenges next year.

“We are ready to help, regardless of who is the prime minister, as was proven during the Covid-19 pandemic and the floods last year.

“The close relationship between the state and the Federal government makes it easier for us to administer, discuss, and make balanced decisions for the benefit of all involved,” he said at the Annex Hall lobby of the State Secretariat Building, earlier today.

When asked if he would join the new Cabinet, the Gombak MP said he is more inclined to continue leading the state administration.

“I personally feel more interested in Selangor as there are various plans, including the First Selangor Plan, that need to be completed.

“However, discussions can be held. As the Sungai Tua state assemblyman and Gombak MP, I can function better,” Amirudin said.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah appointed Anwar earlier today, with the swearing-in ceremony to take place at Istana Negara later this evening at 5pm.
