SHAH ALAM, Nov 25 — A total of RM2.83 million will be allocated for the programmes and activities related to the Selangor Local Youth Movement (PeBS) next year, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the PeBS has been formed to connect the state government with the youth group, thus ensuring the latter has a platform to help empower its agenda in Selangor.

“The allocation would ensure the young generation and sports development agenda will be implemented inclusively and progressively.

“Noting that e-sports has garnered immense responses from the youth, the state government has agreed to channel RM600,000 for the programme next year to provide more opportunities for young people to be involved in the segment,” he said when tabling the 2023 Selangor Budget at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.

The Menteri Besar added that the state administration would continue the projects related to repairing and redevelopment of sports infrastructure in the state with a total budget of RM2.24 million.

“The project aims to repair damaged sports facilities besides reconstructing the facilities based on the localities’ needs.

“Meanwhile, the Sports Development Programme that is being carried out by the Selangor National Sports Centre will be continued with a total allocation of RM7 million.

“Aligned with the current needs of the youth group development agenda in Selangor, the state government also will be channelling some RM16.9 million next year to empower the young generation,” he added.
