GE15: Shah Alam candidate to propose protection scheme for e-hailing riders

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 — Pakatan Harapan’s (Harapan) candidate for the Shah Alam parliamentary seat Azli Yusof intends to propose an insurance scheme for e-hailing riders due to the nature of the job which is quite risky.

He said the intention was among the issues he would highlight in the parliament should he be elected as the representative for the seat.

Azli said most of the riders are not aware of the importance of insurance protection.

“For those who have awareness, it’s good, but not many are. Therefore, I think we should make it compulsory.

“I will propose this in the parliament if given the mandate,” he said after visiting residents at the flats in Section 7 here, on November 10.

Apart from that, Azli also planned to establish an e-business platform to help young people to expand their businesses.

“Those who are into online business could gather at one place to share their ideas or experience.

“Currently, they may just do their business from home. But now, we want them to spend about three hours there (the meeting point) to help generate the economy,” he said.

Azli will contest against Dr Afif Bahardin from Pakatan Nasional, Isham Jalil (Barisan Nasional) and Rafique Rashid (Pejuang).
