SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — Members of the public can obtain information on halal services and products through a special app developed by the state government, starting in March next year.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the app, named HalalSel, also contains information on over 5,000 halal certificate holders and their business locations.
“The app indirectly helps to promote and introduce traders’ products, which in turn can further empower the business industry on a broader scale,” he said during HalalSel’s pre-launch ceremony at the Annex Hall of the State Secretariat Building, earlier today.
Amirudin added the app’s functionality will be improved, including integration with the Wavpay e-wallet and Citizen E-Payment (CEPat) app.
He said HalalSel will also become a centralised app which can carry out transactions, as well as online sales and purchases.
“Selangor will soon have a new channel to deliver special assistance to traders or entrepreneurs, whereas consumers can use the app to get halal vouchers,” Amirudin said.
In July, the Menteri Besar said HalalSel will encourage companies, especially food-based ones, to register their products and obtain halal certification.
