State budget a testament to good financial management amid inflation — Speaker

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — The state government continues to manage its finances well amid various challenges, such as the current global inflation.

Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lim said this has been proven through the 2023 Selangor Budget, which was tabled on Friday.

“The state budget that was tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is comprehensive and focuses on each layer of society.

“Due to sustainable financial management, the state government has managed to increase its revenue as compared to the previous year despite various challenges faced by the country, including inflation,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

Ng, who is also the Sekinchan state assemblyman, said that based on his observation, there is no other state that could surpass Selangor’s achievements.

“The amount for Jom Shopping vouchers has been increased 100 per cent while allowances for religious school (Kafa) teachers, traditional village, new village and Indian community heads are also increased to RM1,500.

“These are among the achievements of the Selangor government under the Pakatan Harapan ruling,” he said.

During the tabling of the state budget on November 25, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor government has allocated RM2.45 billion as part of its preparations to face the expected economic slowdown next year.
