Two sea embankments in Tanjong Karang under repair

SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — Repair work is in progress on two sea embankments that were breached in Tanjong Karang, Kuala Selangor, due to the high tide phenomenon early this morning which caused flooding in the area.

Kuala Selangor District Officer Mohd Raiz Radzuan said the embankments are being repaired by the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) and assisted by the residents, but he could not say when it would be completed.

He said the embankments were damaged due a series of high tide phenomena that occurred in the area, causing the rocks on the sea bunds to break up due to erosion.

“There have been many high tides so the structure has been weakened. Now the villagers have helped to build sand bunds while the JPS has appointed (contractors) to place bigger blocks of stone,” he said when contacted by Bernama this afternoon.
