Yanis to provide opportunities for corporations  to help special needs children — Exco

By Siti Rohaizah Zainal

SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 — The Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor (Yanis) has been set up to provide more assistance for special needs children, says Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

The state executive councillor for women and family development said the objective of having the foundation was to encourage donations from big corporations and allow them to be involved in the education of children with special needs.

“Yanis will be formed to gain more funds from corporate sectors so that the foundation could holistically assist the special needs children.

“Through this foundation, the private parties could utilise their corporate social responsibilities funds to help support various programmes organised by Anak Istimewa Selangor (Anis) because the existing funds are insufficient,” she said when met after officiating the Children’s Day celebration organised by the Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) at the Anis Pre-school Centre in Section 7, here yesterday.

On November 25, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the establishment of Yanis next year with a total allocation of RM4 million.

The foundation would be managed by the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI as part of the state government’s commitment towards empowering children with special needs in the state.
