92 victims of landslide tragedy found, eight dead

SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — A total of 92 landslide victims at the Father Organic Farm near Batang Kali have been found, according to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).

The agency said as of 9.15 this morning, seven victims were found injured while eight dead.

“Until now, search-and-rescue (SAR) operations are still ongoing,” it said in a Twitter post.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered all government departments to carry out SAR missions for landslide victims at Jalan Genting-Batang Kali in a thorough and systematic manner.

He added he has been informed by the Local Government Development Minister, the Environment Minister, and the Selangor Menteri Besar regarding the mission.

Earlier, the Selangor government mobilised personnel and assets from the Fire and Rescue Department, the local authorities, and related agencies to the location to assist in the rescue mission.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the SAR mission is actively being carried out at the moment and victims who are found are being given treatment and attention by the officers.
