Agong attends Qatar National Day celebration at Lusail Palace

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had been invited by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to attend the country’s National Day celebration held at Lusail Palace in Doha, yesterday.

His Majesty was accompanied by Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah and Tengku Arif Temenggung Tengku Fahad Mua’adzam Shah.

Also present was the Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar Zamshari Shaharan.

The King arrived at Lusail Palace at 3.30pm local time and was greeted by Sheikh Tamim and several members of the Qatari royal household.

At the ceremony, His Majesty and 5,000 guests were presented with the country’s traditional sword dance performance ‘Ardha‘.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino was among the guests at the national event which is celebrated annually on December 18.

Al-Sultan Abdullah is currently in Doha at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim in conjunction with the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 and is scheduled to return home tomorrow.
