Batang Kali landslide: Six bodies identified

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 — Six of the 21 bodies recovered from the landslide location at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, near here, yesterday have been identified as at 7am today.

The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) said their identities were confirmed by next of kin through an identification process or the ‘finger printing’ test.

The post-mortem and identification process for the other bodies were still being conducted, it said in a statement today.

Four of those injured were being treated at Hospital Selayang, one was admitted to Hospital Kuala Lumpur and three were discharged yesterday after getting treatment at Hospital Kuala Kubu Bharu.

“Information on the latest developments concerning victims of the tragedy will be announced from time to time after being verified by the agencies responsible,” it said.

In the landslide at 2.42am yesterday, a section of a slope measuring 300 m long and 70 m high came crashing down onto the campsite.

As of this afternoon, 23 people have been confirmed killed in the landslide, 10 are still missing and 61 were rescued.

The dead identified so far:

1. Lim Wei Xin (adult woman)

2. Hong Mei Jing (adult woman)

3. Nurul Azmani (adult woman)

4. Lai Lee Yin (adult woman)

5. Tong Kai (9-year-old boy)

6. Lai Lee Koo (adult woman)
