Board game helps to promote tourism, familiarity with Kajang history

HULU LANGAT, Dec 18 — The ‘Kajang on Board’ board game has been introduced to help promote tourism locations in Kajang, said state executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian.

He said the game also serves to educate the public, especially students, in recognising historical places and buildings in the town.

“In Kajang, many buildings are over a century old with their own history. Through this board game, we hope people who play will better understand and recognise the interesting places here,” said Hee.

The councillor was speaking at the Jom! Play Kajang event organised by the National Taiwan University of Art Alumni Association, in collaboration with Pusat Warisan Kajang, Tourism Selangor, and Persatuan Komuniti Lestari yesterday.

He added in the future a similar method of board games will be utilised to promote local Selangor tourism destinations.

On her part, Pusat Warisan Kajang director Lee Teng said the family-friendly board game was created by Persatuan Komuniti Lestari.

“Kajang on Board requires players to read questions about historical buildings in Kajang written on 44 cards and find the answers in the provided bilingual guidebook (Mandarin and English).

“A total of 300 sets and books were issued as a start, and will be sold at RM120 per set,” he said.

Lee said Pusat Warisan Kajang will release a BM-language version of the board game for all Malaysians by next year.
