FIFA World Cup: Al-Sultan Abdullah congratulates French President

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has congratulated French President Emmanuel Macron on the success of the French football team in advancing to the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.

Yesterday, Al-Sultan Abdullah, who is on a six-day special visit to Qatar beginning December 13, was at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha to watch the FIFA World Cup semi-final match between France and Morocco.

Istana Negara in a statement posted on its official Facebook page said Macron was also present to watch the match which saw defending champion France defeating Morocco 2-0.

His Majesty is also scheduled to grant an audience to several Qatari leaders and attend a gathering with the Malaysian diaspora in Qatar during the special visit which is made at the personal invitation of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Al-Sultan Abdullah is expected to return home on December 19.
