SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — The fun fair in Puncak Alam where a mishap occurred yesterday had been operating without permission from the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS), said state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.
Following the incident, he said MPKS has imposed strict enforcement on the operator, including issuing compounds and confiscating the amusement park.
Ng also warned amusement park operators and site owners to not engage in fun fair activities without prior approval from the local authorities, as it concerns public safety.
“The state government is aware of the mishap involving a fun fair in Bandar Puncak Alam last night. We are deeply sorry over the incident which injured three victims.
“Any fun fair parks still in operation without approval from local authorities must stop immediately. The state government will not compromise on matters involving public safety and lives,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, three people were injured after falling from a fun fair ride at Eco Grandeur, Puncak Alam.
Kuala Selangor District Police chief Supt Ramli Kasa said a team rushed to the scene of the incident after receiving a phone call about the incident at about 8.50pm yesterday.
Ramli said initial investigations found that the victims included two women and a child.
“The three of them fell while the amusement known as ‘Sotong Ride’ was in motion. All the victims were taken to Shah Alam Hospital in an ambulance,” he said in a statement last night.
