High tide to hit Klang from today until Sunday

SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — The high tide phenomenon is anticipated to hit Port Klang beginning today until Sunday, says the National Hydrographic Centre.

The agency said a similar situation is also expected in Kuala Muda, Kedah; Bagan Datuk, Perak as well as Batu Pahat and Pontian in Johor.

“The sea water level at Port Klang is expected to reach 4.9 metres at 5.45am today and 6.17am tomorrow.

“As a result of the phenomenon, seawater would overflow to the land and cause floods at low-lying areas as well as the river mouth,” it said on Facebook.

Following that, residents in Klang have been urged to stay vigilant in facing the phenomenon in addition to referring to the related agencies for more safety information.
