SHAH ALAM, Dec 6 — Hulu Langat is forecasted to be hit with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds until 1am tomorrow, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 8.30pm on Facebook, the agency said that the inclement weather is also anticipated throughout Perlis.

“Meanwhile, stormy weather is also expected in Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik and Baling), Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar and Batang Padang), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin).

“Similar weather conditions are forecasted for Sarawak: Sarikei (Julau), Sibu (Kanowit) and Kapit (Song, Kapit and Bukit Mabong),” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
