PETALING JAYA, Dec 14 — Selangor will step up efforts to strengthen relations between multiracial communities across the state and will oppose any action that threatens unity and stability.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said unity and harmony are the strongest foundations to achieve sustainable economic growth, political stability and social prosperity.

“The state government has never marginalised any races, ethnicities or religions when implementing our policies as we realised that Selangor is home to various races and cultures.

“Therefore, any actions that could harm people’s unity and stability must be avoided at all costs if we want to continue executing the sustainable development agenda,” he said in a speech when officiating the state-level Christmas celebration and open house at Dewan Sivik MBPJ, here last night.

Also present were Amirudin’s wife, Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad and state executive councillor for tourism and environment Hee Loy Sian. The event was attended by over 3,000 visitors.

The event was enlivened by various performances including a violinist, Dr Joanne Yeah, FGT Church Choir, GA611 Church, Roman Catholic Church and Kaya Band.
