PETALING JAYA, Dec 11 — A total of 120 participants from six countries participated in the Petaling Jaya International Remote Control Powerboat Championship 2022, which was held for three days beginning December 9.

Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Azhan Md Amir said among the countries involved in the event were Malaysia, Brunei, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Indonesia.

“This is the 10th edition that we have organised since 2009 and this year, it was joined by 120 participants from local and foreign countries with a total of 450 remote control powerboats.

“This year we are offering a total prize of RM27,500 and InsyaAllah (God willing), we plan to organise it again next year, targeting more countries to take part in the event,” he said at a press conference after flagging off the participants at Taman Tasik Bandaran, in Kelana Jaya, here today.

Azhan said Taman Tasik Bandaran was the largest venue chosen by the participants for 10 years.

“The organisation of this programme would help to promote Petaling Jaya, thus, attracting more visitors to this state,” he added.
