SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — Some 18 joint management bodies (JMB) and management corporations (MC) received awards from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) which included RM21,000 in cash, during an appreciation ceremony at Dewan Banquet MBSA yesterday afternoon.

Four main awards were given to UOA Business Park’s JMB for the commercial category, while the De Palma MC won the high-cost category, the Tasik Kota Kemuning Apartment MC in Section 31 won the medium-cost category, and the Sentosa Apartment JMB in Section U13 of Setia Alam won the low-cost category.

All the main winners received a RM2,000 cash prize each, a plaque, and a certificate which was presented by the state executive councillor for urban welfare Rodziah Ismail.

Shah Alam Mayor Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid said the second appreciation ceremony, after the first was held in October 2020, is a gesture of appreciation for the efforts and commitment of each JMB and MC under MBSA’s jurisdiction.

He said the event also aims to inculcate the spirit of activity in each JMB and MC, urging them to be committed and responsible in ensuring that stratified development areas implement the laws and regulations set by both MBSA and the state government.

“This award aims to evaluate the efficiency and credibility of JMBs and MCs management in 2022. A total of 74 stratified development areas were selected from the 723 available schemes.

“The assessment is based on five components, which include compliance with the establishment and management of the body, finance, maintenance, population well-being, as well as safety and risk management,” he said during the ceremony.

Dr Nor Fuad added that MBSA has also conducted strata management seminars, courses, and workshops on a yearly basis to help the JMBs and MCs strengthen their services.

“The duties and responsibilities of every JMB and MC are not easy, as they have to ensure every homeowner can peacefully enjoy the existing facilities and infrastructure, deal with issues caused by homeowners involving the collection of maintenance fees, and so on, in addition to various social problems.

“With this in mind, I hope the JMBs and MCs can continue to help and cooperate with residents in creating a harmonious atmosphere with a spirit of belonging, so as to bring about peaceful and prosperous living,” he said.
