SHAH ALAM, Dec 28 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has provided its guarantee of continuous public cleaning, so as to prevent the risk of flooding.

Its managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said the cleaning includes drains, especially those under 1.5 meters in size, and collecting bulk rubbish on a weekly basis to ensure smooth water flow and avoid clogging.

“We have identified over 50 hotspot areas throughout Selangor that may flood if the heavy rains continue.

“Up to 600 KDEBWM personnel are preparing to carry out the post-flood cleaning operations, which will be assigned to 12 operation rooms in each district,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Ramli added that in the event of a flood, the state-owned solid waste management and public cleaning company has 1,200 additional staff on the ground, who will carry out the cleaning which includes collecting bulk garbage.

“We have also ensured that 500 Roll-On-Roll-Off trucks, bulldozers, excavators and long trucks are always on standby for use,” he said.
