PETALING JAYA, Dec 9 — Local authorities are advised to create strategic plans to help entrepreneurs and empower their businesses.

State executive councillor for entrepreneurial development Rodziah Ismail wants Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) efforts in formulating the Petaling Jaya Entrepreneur Development Strategic Plan 2021-2030 to be emulated.

“MBPJ is the first local authority to create such an action plan that is quite conducive and can empower entrepreneurs’ businesses.

“Local authorities have a role in helping entrepreneurs by providing input to digitise their businesses, but at the same time, remain strict in enforcement,” she said during the 2022 Petaling Jaya Entrepreneur Awards Ceremony at the MBPJ Civic Hall, here today.

Rodziah also praised MBPJ’s initiative and hoped that the entrepreneur’s success stories could be compiled and become an inspiration for others.

“The entrepreneur award held by MBPJ today is also a success story in itself and it should be organised by all local authorities. Well done!” she said.

For the first time, MBPJ recognised 10 entrepreneurs who successfully completed the three-month entrepreneurship training course under its strategic plan.
