SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — The fate of the Indian community, especially when it comes to education, will continue to be upheld to ensure its members do not fall behind and drop out of their studies, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the Pakatan Harapan-led state government has striven to improve the quality of people’s lives carefully and with detail since 2008.

“We have carried out various efforts, including successfully resolving the land issue over a farm in Tanjong Karang that has been prevalent in the past four decades, as well as Kampung Indian Settlement Batu Caves.

“Similarly when it concerns overall education funding, we have allocated between RM6 to RM8 million since 2008. But as of this year, it has grown to RM26 million, of which RM5 million is for Tamil vernacular schools,” Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar was speaking at closing ceremony of the ‘Capacity Building’ Gerak Gempur Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 event, organised by the Selangor Indian Community Consultative Council (SICC) at SKJ(T) Ladang Midlands yesterday.

Previously, he said the state government will RM26.5 million this year to primary and secondary schools in Selangor, so they can improve their infrastructure.

Approximately RM9.3 million has been allocated to religious schools, RM9 million to Chinese vernacular schools, and RM4.5 to Tamil vernacular schools.
